“Take Action Today” Generate Traffic and Sales With….Customized RSS Feeds and RSS Aggregates
Day EIGHT of Traffic Generation….
RSS stands for “Really Simple Sindication” or in earlier versions “Rich Site Summary”. The “really simple explanation” of RSS is that it is a means for readers to stay informed of new content that is added to a website without having to actually visit the website. When a web user subscribes to an RSS Feed, new content is delivered directly to their RSS Reader automatically and all they have to do is go to their RSS reader to read this new content.
As a webmaster and business owner, RSS is a way for you to get your content delivered throughout the internet. If you’re using Wordpress for your blog…then most likely you already have an RSS on your blog that readers can subscribe to. Your Squidoos, Hub Pages, Bookmarks, and articles that we discussed earlier in this traffic generation series also have RSS Feeds.
For our purposes here, we’re going to show you how to build hundreds of backlinks and generate traffic to your websites with Customized RSS Feeds that you can then submit to RSS Aggregators. These customized RSS feeds will give you instant one way backlinks to your web properties.
We’ve already talked about how you can add your blog RSS Feed to your Squidoo webpages as a way to continually be adding new content and updating your Squidoo. To find your blog’s RSS Feed URL you can click on the RSS to get the URL (or right click on your RSS and chose “properties” which will give you your URL). When you build your Squidoo webpages you can add the RSS Module and then add your RSS URL to that module.
Customized RSS Feeds can be comprised of RSS Feeds from any number of sites including blogs, articles, social bookmarks, Web 2.0 sites, podcasts and videos. With a customized RSS feed you can include several RSS URLs into one single RSS Feed and submit that one feed to RSS Aggregator sites to build hundreds of one way backlinks and generate traffic to your sites.
So How Do You Create a Customized RSS Feed?
The service that I use for my customized feeds is RSSMix. You will need to create an account first, then chose to create an RSS customized feed.
Let’s say you want to add your blog, your Squidoo lense, your Hub Pages and your articles into one single RSS Feed with RSSMix.
To get your blog’s URL click on the RSS button or right click on the RSS button and get the URL or the properties (which gives you the URL). For example: the RSS feed for this blog is http://janemcgowansblog.fasttrack2business.com/?feed=rss2 Copy that URL…then paste it into the box for your new RSS customized feed.
Then go to Squidoo…click on the RSS Feed button for your lense, then when the new window pops up click on “view xml” and this will give you your Squiddo lense RSS feed URL. Copy and paste this URL into the same box that you pasted your blog’s RSS feed URL.
On Ezine articles go to your profile page, find the RSS icon at the top of the page and mouse over it. Click on Xml and your xml feed will come up. Copy this xml URL and paste it into the same box as you pasted your blog and your Squidoo RSS feed URLs.
Now you can go to one of your social bookmarking sites such as “De.li.cious”. Log in and go to your profile page. Then scroll down on your profile page and find the RSS icon. Click this on and your RSS URL will show up. Copy this URL and paste it into the same box as your blog RSS URL, your Squidoo lense URL, your Ezine article URL, etc.
You can now click on the create button in RSSMix and a new customized RSS feed will be created for all of the RSS URLs that you added.
Submit To RSS Aggregators
Now you’re ready to take this newly created RSS customized feed and submit it to all of the RSS Aggregators to get all of those new one way backlinks to your website to generate traffic.
Following is a list of my favorite RSS Aggregators that you can submit your new customized feed to.
